Over time Tiernan was influenced by artists such as Wayne Barlowe and Roger Dean and became deeply invested in the artistic juxtaposition of the ancient and the new. Developing new forms abstracted from ancient animal life and also abstracting the human form to hybrid mystical creatures. He continues to model as he needs the completion of 3 dimensions in his work, but has latterly also been exploring these forms in his drawing and painting.
In addition to his traditional focus areas, Tiernan has also been exploring, through photography, the layering of light and movement to create the sense of 3 dimensions on a flat plane.

After 3 years of hard-drinking, I mean work, I am coming up to the end of my final year at Lancaster University where I have been studying for my BA (Hons) in Fine Art.
This year, my End of Year Show will be online due to the Coronavirus pandemic, so I hope you will be able to drop by and take a look at my work, and that of my fellow final year students who have all done amazing exhibits for this year’s show.
The show will start tonight at 6pm and I’m sure there will be virtual wine and nibbles 😊
